Kna Global Enterprise DBA Kna Credit Counseling (www.knaglobalenterpise.com). Owned by Keayna Washington, 32-year-old female entrepreneur of Chicago, IL. Kna Credit Counseling offers credit repair, credit restoration, business startup, business credit, mortgage loan approval, and notary public services.

What inspired you to create your firm?

Kna Credit Counseling was established in 2015. After starting service with Lexington law firm in 2014, I had little to no progress and was in desperate need of credit repair. I was seeking a credit repair service that was reliable and time sufficient after searching high and low. I found an individual who was trustworthy and financially literate to repair my credit. After completing my consultation with him, he invited me to join him and his uncle’s company to service individual credit needs. I did not understand why he felt I would be a good fit because I only knew the basics of credit that I thought was general knowledge. I was not too thrilled to offer credit repair. I was a legal assistant, and the two did not coincide with one another. Immediately after starting service and seeing how my process went, the light bulb popped on. I was shocked at how many items were removed from my credit, and I wanted everyone to know the process. I had always been knowledgeable of what credit consists of and the importance of credit — working in mortgage banking for four years. I was in Litigation law firms for five years and collections debt management for two years. I had a new profound journey ahead of me. I started to research processes, laws and guides to help others and eventually joined the National Association of Credit Services Organization, where I earned my certification to be a certified credit counselor.

What problems do your firms aim to solve?

Identify problems and obstacles that prevent clients from having good credit to achieve purchasing goals — educating millennials on the process of obtaining and managing credit — educating first-time home seekers on the home buying process about gaining assets, residual incomes, and investment.

What obstacles have you faced in creating your brand, and how did you overcome these obstacles?

During the entire growth spurt of KNA Credit Counseling, there where many curveballs are thrown, tossed, and sat on to prevent the business from prevailing. However, as an individual owner, I sat out an alternative route on how I wanted to grow as an individual, reflecting on the company growth. I followed alignment and purpose and stayed in front of my mission, and in results, I was able to wing out all the obstacles in front of me.

How do you keep off stress and avoid burnout?

Things were the first to give up. As I grew, my intention spam for a sure thing and places changed. No, I did not change who I was. I turned what I was about. I found myself more intrigued by like-minded people. I did not typically give up on relationships, but I had to reevaluate certain ones. Practicing social distance to become a better you and a better brand will be necessary as an entrepreneur. Regardless of what the field is.

What is your best advice for someone who wants to grow in any area of their life?

As an entrepreneur, I think it is essential to know how to lead correctly. The objective is to be a teacher of your craft. Inspire others to become brilliant through works and innovation. I often use the term “hustle with a purpose” as those who hustle without purpose never reach the end. What is your end goal? No matter what service or product you offer as an entrepreneur, always have an end goal. What is your purpose? For those who are on the fence about jump-starting. Ask yourself. What is a passion without the what-ifs? Focus on what could be. Turn your negatives into positive. Set yourself apart from others. Life is about challenges. Never be afraid to fail. Ideally, we all think big, but sometimes starting small creates the more significant you.
